Featured Venue: The Darby House – Galloway, Ohio

This week we feature a wedding venue that most brides only dream about. It is truly special. The Darby House is located off Darby Creek Drive in Galloway, Ohio…only a mile or two outside of Columbus. Situated on a 1,200-acre private estate, it is actually the former historical home of John W. Galbreath, real estate developer, sportsman and philanthropist.

Galbreath owned the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1946 to 1985, during which the Pirates won the World Series three times. He won the Kentucky Derby twice as well as the Preakness, Belmont Stakes, Breeders Cup and the English Derby. In 1954, Galbreath built The Darby House to entertain guests. He later added the adjacent nine-hole golf course for friends and family, as he was too busy to play golf himself.

The house sits on Darby Dan Farm, named by Galbreath for the Darby Creek which flows through the farm and his son, Dan. He also widened the creek and created three islands with the addition of a dam 100 yards south of the Darby House. On the other side of Darby Creek Road is the family’s private airstrip known as Darby Dan Airport.

Today, the folks at Cameron Mitchell offer on-site catering for all events taking place inside this venue. J.T. Michaels Entertainment has been providing professional DJ services for nearly two decades at The Darby House. It is always a pleasure performing at this location. Simply put…The Darby House is the perfect venue. With accommodations of up to 300 guests, you can feel confident knowing the Cameron Mitchell staff can turn weddings of any size into an experience you’ll never forget. Having your wedding ceremony on-site? They offer areas both inside and outside.

We’ve yet to have a single issue and for the mobile entertainer, getting in/out of this venue is a breeze. DJ’s are often asked to play on stage which overlooks the dining room. Wedding couples enjoy the best views with the Darby Creek serving as a backdrop through the large, oversize windows. This exquisite location is not limited to just weddings either. You can host nearly any type of event at The Darby House and the employees of Cameron Mitchell are always professional as is evident by the positive reviews received from their former clients:
